And the fact is that on TikTok, musician Ivan Cano Capetillo explained that the Mexican National Anthem must be sung in the key of C major, however, Danna Paola did it in G sharp and for this she could receive some sanction, since Article 39 of the Law on the Coat of Arms, Flag and National Anthem explains that:

"It is strictly forbidden to alter the lyrics or music of the National Anthem and to perform it totally or partially with compositions or arrangements. Likewise, it is forbidden to sing or perform the National Anthem for profit".

The fine that the singer could receive

The Law on the Coat of Arms, Flag and National Anthem explains that in case of altering the lyrics or music of the Mexican National Anthem or interpreting it for profit, the person could receive any of the following sanctions:

  • Reprimand with warning;
  • Fine of up to ten thousand times the value of the Measurement and Updating Unit (UMA) at the time the infraction was committed;
  • Additional fine of up to ten thousand times the value of the UMA for each day that the infraction persists;
  • Arrest for up to 36 hours.

According to INEGI, the current daily value of the Unidad de Medida y Actualizacion (UMA) is 103.74 Mexican pesos, therefore, in case of receiving the economic fine, Danna Paola would have to pay 1,037,400 Mexican pesos.
